Blogging for Pleasure

WRITING MATERIAL for this blog, and publishing it online on a regular basis, has been a gratifying leisure experience for me. It was seven and a half years ago when I discovered how to create a blog. Soon thereafter my first small post successfully appeared on the Internet. Looking back after these several years, there's no doubt that this endeavor has brought me pleasure. But, in addition to that, the activity of blogging has kept my creative juices flowing and my wheels turning!

The purpose of this article is to encourage others of you to also consider blogging for pleasure. It's not difficult to get started, and you can do it without any cost. In addition, you might be surprised to find that writing something for your blog can be quite an enjoyable activity. Plus, I can vouch for the fact that blogging is a worthwhile use of free time.

Hundreds upon thousands of individuals have already become bloggers. These folks are producing huge volumes of material consisting of their own ideas and thoughts. It is now possible to do a Google Blog Search and find almost any imaginable topic.

One of the neatest things about a blog is that it can be anything you want it to be. For example, it can be generally focused on some kind of theme or topic such as your own recipes with tid-bits for producing quick and easy meals. Or, it might be random thoughts and pictures of your travels across the country. Someone else might decide to give opinions and commentary regarding a particular sports team. In my own case, I decided to write short articles on topics pertaining to leisure. This idea came to me as a result of my career.

Another interesting fact about a blog is that it can be made available for everyone (the general public) to see, or it can be restricted. The creator of the blog decides.

A couple of names stand out, in my opinion, when it comes to offering free hosting services for bloggers and would-be bloggers. One is Google's Blogger, my host; the other is Wordpress.

In the space below are the addresses (and links) to a couple of other blogs. It might be helpful to see what other people are doing - and to notice the variety in the types of blogs produced.

Having a blog, and producing your own style of written material on some sort of consistent schedule, is a great thing. It is a wonderful opportunity to express yourself in words, to offer your opinions, to share pictures, and to have fun all at the same time.

For those of you who already have a flair for writing, a blog is a perfect outlet. For others of you who would consider sharing your thoughts with others in written form, a blog is still a perfect place. In either case, a blog offers a chance "to be published" - even if only online! So, why not try your hand at blogging for pleasure!
