Cruising: Leisure on the Water

ONE OF THE BEST leisure experiences, whether for a vacation or after retirement, is waiting for you on the water: cruising! From huge ocean liners to smaller riverboats, a variety of ships and other watercraft are available - and all are ready to welcome you aboard. And, once on-board, get ready for what perhaps will become a voyage that you will want to repeat over and over!

A cruise offers many advantages when compared to other types of free-time pleasures. Obviously, when on a cruise, your motel floats right along with you. There's no more packing and unpacking day after day as is necessary on a long-distance automobile trip. Food is unbelievably good, with plenty of it at any time day or night - including mid-night buffets. Opportunities are available for elegant or casual dining or even quick snacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Entertainment is superb! Broadway-type shows are usually scheduled every evening for your enjoyment.

People who cruise can be as busy or as non-busy as they wish to be. A variety of scheduled activities are provided each day for all ages, however some individuals may choose to simply enjoy sitting in a deck chair soaking up the rays of the sun. On a cruise, opportunities for relaxation abound! The scenery and the views, whether from your cabin window or from one of many decks, is almost always absolutely outstanding.

Generally speaking, accommodations and amenities are wonderful. What is offered by many cruise lines is more than adequate for most passengers. Of course some cabins are larger than others, some are located on decks higher than others, and some have an outside view while others do not. For additional charges, most cruise lines provide the opportunity for side trips to interesting places while the ship is docked at a port of call. These excursions prove to be extremely interesting and enjoyable for many of the ship's passengers.

Although a cruise cannot be considered an inexpensive vacation or fun experience, many have discovered the delights of cruising to be money well spent. Prices for a cruise vary due to the length of the trip, the choice of cabin and deck, and other factors. A cruise is most often considered as a package deal, and paid for prior to departure.
